THE Oswestry branch of Shropshire Wildlife Trust is holding two events in the space of a week to usher in the full arrival of spring.

The two events – a spring walk on Sunday, April 14 and a talk about the environment on Wednesday, April 17 – are expected to attract members and visitors to celebrate the new season.

Sarah Gibson, from Shropshire Wildlife Trust, says the talk – the latter event – is part of the long-term commitment to growing wildflower-rich meadows along all of Shropshire’s road verges.

OTHER NEWS:

She said: “This event will showcase the power of communities to manage areas of their local environment for the benefit of wildlife and the people living around it.

“The talk will be given by Janet Cobb, one of the project's volunteers.”

The event will be held at the Methodist Church Hall, in Castle Street, and does not require prior booking.

Entry is £3 on the door for members and £4 for non-members and the talk will follow a brief annual general meeting for the branch at 7.30pm.
