A public meeting is to be held on the plans to build a new set of pylons across the Vyrnwy valley and around the edge of Oswestry for a series of Welsh wind farms.

A discussion about the controversial plans which would see a new dozens of miles of new power lines to be built across the Welsh border to connect three different wind farms to the National Grid will be held in Pant on Friday, April 19.

The plans which are being proposed by Bute Energy and Green GEN Cymru would see a power line connecting its proposed new windfarms in mid Wales to the National Grid near Lower Frankton - a distance of around 40 miles.

Bute Energy has said that the project will be a benefit to the community and are planning on creating a Community Benefit Fund that would see nearly £6 million being made available for local organisations, charities, and community groups and are in a series of public consultations across Wales and the border.

The proposed route would see the line go across the Vyrnwy valley then crossing the A5 near the golf course and the British Ironworks centre before meeting up with the National Grid in Lower Frankton.

The meeting, which will be attended by North Shropshire MP Helen Morgan, will be discussing alternative routes or alternative methods which would have less of an impact on the scenery. These include rerouting away from properties or laying down underground cables.

The meeting will be held at Pant Memorial Hall on Friday, April 19, from 4pm to 6pm.
