A FORMER breakfast TV star has been announced as a patron to an Oswestry charity that helps young children improve their mobility.

Louise Minchin graced the red sofa on BBC Breakfast as a regular host for a decade and was this week announced as a patron to Oswestry’s The Movement Centre, which is committed to providing life-changing therapy for children with movement difficulties.

Staff at the centre, based at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Hospital, said they were delighted to welcome the former TV news anchor on board as a prominent figure in the media industry.

Louise is a fervent supporter of charitable initiatives and staff are hoping that involvement is expected to ‘elevate the organisation's profile and broaden its impact’.

She said: “I am honoured and excited to become a patron of The Movement Centre.

“Witnessing the incredible work they do to transform the lives of children facing movement challenges is truly inspiring.

“I am eager to contribute to their mission and help raise awareness for the invaluable services they provide.”

The centre specialises in Targeted Training, a unique and innovative approach that focuses on helping children with movement difficulties achieve greater independence and mobility.

The charity's commitment to improving the lives of children aligns seamlessly with Louise's dedication to making a positive difference in the world.

Louise, who is also a broadcast journalist and published author, joins with the charity at a crucial time as it continues to expand its reach and impact and her support is anticipated to amplify the charity's message.

Kate Halewood, chairman of trustees at The Movement Centre, said they were delighted to have her onboard.

She added: “Having Louise as our patron is a tremendous privilege.

“Her passion for philanthropy and commitment to making a positive impact aligns perfectly with our mission.
