OWNERS of a popular Oswestry café say they are looking forward to their new start which bears the name of a much-missed mum.

Sarah Wortley is co-owner of Suzanne’s, in Bailey Street, with Laura Griffiths, who have moved from Wednesday’s Café, in Castle Court to the former space left by Fat Rabbit in Bailey Street.

Sarah says the new venture is named after Laura’s mum – Suzanne – after the opportunity came up to re-name their business.

But she added that not much else will change in the new home.

“We left our previous premises there because the building was too large and we only opened in the day and not in the night,” she said.

“There were other issues that previously existed too with the business.

“We’re really pleased to make the move to the new premises and it’s a better premises, and we’re going to do what we’re good at.

“The new café is named after Laura’s mum who passed away in 2007 and it’s a nice way to remember her that way.

“We’re a family run business so there was no hesitation to name the café after Laura’s mum.

“She was a nurse at the Orthopaedic Hospital – it’s a lovely reminder of her mum each way.

“It’s going to be pretty much the same menu that we did at Wednesday’s but we’ve add a few vegan and vegetarian options to make it friendlier for them.

“And we’re still going to be pet friendly.”

Sarah and Laura admitted that the last few months at Wednesday’s could not be called ‘lucky’ after the building was damaged and also burgled.

But Sarah says that now is the chance to move forward with their regular customer base and is already thinking about the future.

She added: “A lot of people know that we have moved and we have a had a lot of our regulars come to see the café and support us.

“But not everyone is online so some people might now know that we’ve moved so it’s about letting them know.
