A MAJOR Oswestry road is set to be resurfaced in the spring, according to Shropshire Highways.
Works to carry out major resurfacing on Oswald Road, in Oswestry town centre, and could begin as early as March or April, and will the removal of road studs and the current surface to make way for the new road.
A spokesman for Shropshire Highways said it is currently planning works for the 2024/25 financial year with schemes identified via a combination of local engineering judgment and asset management data as needing essential maintenance.

They added: “This site forms part of a countywide programme of schemes, scheduled to deliver the work in the most efficient and cost-effective way.
“The works at Oswald Road will involve removal of studs and or other street furniture (as required by the design).
“Planing out the existing surface to various depths (as required by the design) and dispose of the arisings.
“Laying the new surface to various depths – (as required by the design) and then allowing it to set/ cure before traffic is allowed over it.
“Laying down new road markings.
“As part of our improved engagement process, we wish to make you aware of these essential works and welcome comments and feedback.”
The spokesman added that the work will take place during the day time with night work ‘not possible’ and said Highways is welcoming feedback on best dates for the work.
They added: “To ensure these works are delivered in the most efficient and safest manner for both the public and our workforce, a road closure is typically required.
“A signed diversion route will be in place, all vehicles would be required to follow this.
“The works are usually completed under various phases, where we will endeavour to maintain access to properties and businesses where safe and practicable to do so.
“Gatemen will be on site, should access to properties be required.
“Access for emergency vehicles is typically allowed through the site where safe and practicable to do so.
