MAJOR UK supermarket chain Farm Foods has moved to quash rumours that it is set to open in Oswestry's former Wilko store.
The week began with suggestions locally in the town that Farm Foods, one of the biggest frozen goods retailers in the country, was looking to set up in the town.
It had been reported that the company, based in Scotland, was interested in opening a branch in the former Wilko store in New Street.

However, a spokesman for the company confirmed that there is no expectation for the company to move to town.
They said: “I can advise that there are no current plans to open a shop in Oswestry.”
Wilko closed in 2023 after the company was forced into administration and the building has been empty since.
