POPULAR UK retailer Peacocks looks set to come to Oswestry, with job opportunities already on offer hinting at an opening date soon.
M&Co, in Cross Street, closed its doors in 2023 after the company plunged into administration, leaving many wondering what will happen with the space.
Rumours began circulating in November last year that Peacocks was set to step in to fill the void left by M&Co, but the company chose not to respond to the talk around the town.
Now a job advertisement posted on the website Simply Hired, suggests that the retailer will be opening a shop in Oswestry soon, although the retailer itself has still to comment.
The role is that of a store manager, with an estimated salary between £25.5k to £32.3k.

The description reads: “Here at Peacocks we have a fantastic opportunity for a store manager based in our new store in Oswestry.

“As well as being part of an exciting and dynamic team you will also have the opportunity to gain an industry recognised qualification within your first 18 months of you wish to do so.
“As store manager we are looking for a well rounded and commercial ‘retail manager’ who is proactive in their approach and can work using their own initiative, fashion retail experience is desirable however not essential as full training provided.
“The ideal candidate will have previous experience either in management or supervision of personnel within a retail outlet.”
This is not the first time the retailer has had a shop in town, but it was closed in 2012 as Peacocks went into administration.
The chain was bought out by the Edinburgh Woollen Mill Group (EWMG).
In 2020 EWMG also entered administration, but it was later saved by a senior executive backed by an international association of investors.
If it was to open, Peacocks would join McDonald’s and The Range among the new brands that have set up shop in Oswestry.
The company was approached for comment.
