A woman who died on the A5 near Gobowen at the weekend has been named.

Deborah Elaine Evans, 65, who lived in Duddleston Heath near Ellesmere sadly died on the A5 between the Gledrid and Orthopedic roundabouts near Oswestry.

In a hearing at Shrewsbury Coroners Court earlier today (February 1), it was confirmed that Mrs Evans, who had previously worked as a care worker before retiring, died in an incident on Sunday (January 28).

In evidence  this had sadly occurred despite the efforts of members of the public to give her medical assistance on the roadside.

West Mercia Police officers were called out to a 'concern for safety' report at the junction of the A5 Gobowen and Gledrid Island in Weston Rhyn, Oswestry, at around 8.45am on Sunday.

West Mercia Police and West Midland Ambulance Service attended the incident and declared Mrs Evans dead at the scene.

In a statement read out at Shrewsbury Coroner's court, West Mercia Police said they believe that there were “no suspicious circumstances” surrounding the death.
