TWO fighter jets in pursuit of one another across the skies of Mid Wales and north Shropshire were on a training excursion, the RAF has confirmed.
One jet was seen circling around Snowdonia at around 3.30pm on Monday before it began to fly across Powys and then across north Shropshire – including the RAF at Shawbury – and could be seen as far north as Cheshire.
One eye witness said the two planes were in unison across the skies, and according to website Flight Radar 24, they continued all the way to the east coast and Lincolnshire.

A spokesman for the RAF confirmed that the two fighters would have been on ‘routine’ exercise, given its ‘Warlord’ callsign which signifies training.
He said: “RAF Typhoons from RAF Coningsby, Lincs completed a routine training sortie over Wales this afternoon, such training ensuring that our pilots continue to be ready to deploy on global operations.”
The spokesman added that the RAF and in this case, Typhoon pilots use a variety of training areas around the whole of the UK for training and vary their routes and training locations to maximise training benefit.
