WITH Christmas 2023 fresh in the memory, one Oswestry woman has already set herself a challenge for Christmas Eve 2024 – to give rescue dogs a night to remember.
Donna Milward, with her family and her faithful Romanian rescue Stella, will spend next Christmas Eve travelling to see as many rescue dogs without a family within a two-hour drive of Oswestry.
Donna, who is an advocate for dogs, says she wants to help as many animals feel love and has launched an appeal in the town to help her provide good quality items to help the rescues.

She said: “My 2024 Christmas mission is for dogs without families.
“I had an idea for 2024 where on Christmas Eve, I want to go and visit rescue kennels that are approximately within a two-hour distance of myself.
“I want to go and take treats, toys, food on Christmas Eve so they will have a present.
“I know people support certain rescues, or where they got their dog from, which is great, but I like to support many rescues either through sharing or entering fundraisers.
“But what's the harm in me doing this – Christmas is just another day to us but to a dog without a home receiving a gift is amazing.
“Me, Stella and my mum will go out on Christmas Eve and take the rescues their presents.
“Every dog deserves a present at Christmas.”
Donna, from near Cabin Lane in Oswestry, added that she believes what she is doing is in the spirit of Christmas.
She added: “Christmas shouldn’t be about what we receive but what we can give to others and as you all know dogs are so very dear to me and important in my life.
I have made a start on putting together a wishlist on Amazon with items i think they may like - I will add new throughout the year.
Donna added that for those who cannot access the wishlist at www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/ls/ROAZUH8YGFW1 can send to her Paypal at stellathestar22@hotmail.com and she will purchase the items.

She added: “If you don't want to buy new but have good condition items that are safe for rescues i.e. toys, blankets, beds I will accept these but must be in good condition and clean.
“Let’s make some dogs happy without families in 2024.
“If you are not able to help by purchasing I completely understand but please do share thank you.”
