ORGANISERS of a film society in Oswestry have thanked the TV star and impressionist Alistair McGowan for attending an event last week.

Oswestry Film Society (OFS), based at Kinokulture in Arthur Street, hosted an event with the actor for 'My names is Alfred', a film telling the life of the brilliant director Alfred Hitchcock, who made classics such as Psycho, The Birds and Vertigo.

James Biond, from OFS, said they were delighted to host Alistair who in turn kept all visitors and attendees entertained with both his knowledge of the director and also his natural mimicking ability and great humour.

OTHER NEWS:

James said: “TV star Alistair McGowan wowed us with his live appearance last week.

“He charmed us with insights into his Alfred Hitchcock documentary that we showed, his TV and radio career stories, plus of course some of the impressions he's so famous for.

“And he was happy to chat with so many audience members informally after the event.

“He's now involved in the arts scene in Ludlow (Ludlow Festival, music recitals etc) and the OFS will support him in return.”

OFS will start 2024 with an uplifting bang with a showing of The Greatest Showman – a spectacular production not to be missed on the big screen, and will be on Tuesday, January 16.

On Tuesday, February 6, it will be the black comedy American Hustle and the charming British film Hope And Glory on Tuesday, February 20.
