North Shropshire lost nearly 60 per cent of its banks in the last eight years - but the chains have “no current plans to close” any more Oswestry branches.
The most recent closure in Oswestry comes from Barclays, after it shut down its branch in Cross Street in the July 2023.
According to Which?, a not for profit organisation which provides information on product and service quality, North Shropshire has lost nine banks since 2015.
They have now created a tool for costumers to check their local bank closures.
A spokesperson said: “Which? has been tracking bank branch closures since 2015.
“In this guide, you can find out exactly what the state of play is, which banks have closed the most branches and the areas hardest hit.

According to Which? NatWest Group has closed 1,330 branches - the most of any banking group.
A spokesperson from NatWest said: “We keep our branch network under regular review”.
This was followed by Barclays which seems to have closed over 1,125 banks in the past eight years.
Next is HSBC with 736 closures, but the last time the chain announced any closures was in November 2022.
The bank said it has “no current plans” to close its Cross Street branch.
Santander, which has a branch in The Cross, also said it was not planning any closures, having axed 477 banks since 2015.
A spokesperson also added that last year Santander invested in refurbishing the Oswestry branch and that it does have contingency plans for when closures are confirmed across the country.
Which? Spokesperson said: “Under pressure from campaigners and the government, major high street banks have finally agreed to fund shared hubs on a voluntary basis.
“Since January 2022, these banks tell Link (the cash machine network) when they’re planning branch closures so it can assess whether that community needs extra cash services, such as a hub.”
So far no hubs are set to open in the Oswestry area.
Which? has also provided a few alternatives to bank branches, such as Post Offices, community bankers, mobile banking vans, tech support.
