AN ELLESMERE church was abuzz with activity last Saturday as aisles were transformed into stalls, a feast of local crafts and food.
The event at St Mary’s Church, Ellesmere attracted not just the residents, but also numerous visitors who gathered to socialise in the church café, that was stacked up with irresistible cakes baked by church members and savoured mulled wine on a nippy day ahead of snow showers.

Food stalls included local cheesemaker Larkton and baker Ma Baker from Overton on Dee, jam maker Clare Fisher from Loppington and Vermeulen’s delicatessen.
A spokesperson said: “The Fair raised £2,000 for the church and there were also charity stalls for Save the Children, The Samaritans and our Methodist Church in town.
“Everyone had a merry day and our fabulous Christmas Raffle with prizes donated by generous local businesses increased the jollity as many visitors left with super prizes.”
There was a variety of craft stalls, including artists Pam Bowen and her son Mike Russell, two amazing woodturners, jewellery makers and knitters.
There were candles, Christmas wreaths, tree decorations and glass creations.
The spokesperson added: “This was the third year that a Christmas Fair had been held in church and we were delighted with the splendid support from our stallholders and all who came to enjoy the day.”
