A COW had to be rescued from a canal between Oswestry and Chirk on Thursday afternoon.
Two crews from Oswestry and Wellington were sent to Gledrid, near Chirk and Weston Rhyn, at around 4pm after reports of the animal in the water.
A Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman confirmed firefighters attended the scene but that the cow moved herself out of the water into a nearby field.
They added: “Nothing was used.”

A stop message was sent to SFRS control at 5.05pm confirming no further support was needed.
Meanwhile, three crews of SFRS firefighters from Ellesmere, Oswestry and Wellington were called to a road traffic collision in Salop Road, Oswestry, at 3.30pm.
Firefighters used small gear to make one vehicle safe, which had been moved by police.
The spokesman added: “No persons were trapped.”
A stop message was sent 20 minutes after arrival.
