ALTHOUGH motorists should always be mindful of their speed, the Safer Roads Partnership based at West Mercia Police regularly situates mobile speed cameras in certain locations.
These run alongside the fixed speed cameras.
And they have released a list of where these mobile sites are located in the Oswestry area.
According to the UK Government’s speeding penalties guide the minimum penalty is a £100 fine and three penalty points added to your licence.
In certain circumstances, drivers will be eligible to attend a Driver Education Course, which will incur a cost, but you will not have penalty points added to your licence.
Within 14 days of your car being caught speeding you’ll be sent a Notice of Intended Prosecution (NIP) and a Section 172 notice.

The guidelines read: “You must return the Section 172 notice within 28 days, telling the police who was driving the car.
“You may have to go to court if you ignore the notice.”
After sending the completed Section 172 notice, you will receive one of two notifications: either a Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN) or a communication instructing you to appear in court.
If you ignore the letter you will be taken to court.
If you accumulate 12 or more penalty points within a span of three years, you may face a potential driving disqualification.
In Oswestry, there is only one fixed speed camera on B5069 Gobowen Road where the speed limit is 30mph, while there is another in the region on the A5 at Shotatton where the speed limit is 40mph.
Although the SRP has released where it bases its mobile speed cameras, it has not released the dates and times of when they will be in these locations.
Here is a list of all roads a mobile speed camera might be on, from the Road Safety Team at West Mercia Police:
