THE organiser of next weekend's Oswestry 10k says he is delighted that runners of all abilities can enter the almost sold-out race.
Thousands of runners will take to Church Street on Sunday, October 15, including North Shropshire MP Helen Morgan, Oswestry town mayor Councillor Olly Rose, as well as some of the best elite runners in the area.
Alan Lewis, from Adrenaline Sporting Events, says this shows that the 10km is a race for all and admitted he was proud of that.
“We’re pretty much full and we’re super limited on spaces,” he said

“The type of entrants this year is so broad this year – we’ve got Helen Morgan, our MP, running it and we have the ex-footballer Dave Edwards too, plus Oswestry’s town mayor Olly Rose.
“We’ve got councillors and we’ve even got a firefighter who is doing it in his full kit.
“We’ve got the elite guys in front and then we have all these well-known people doing it too.
“It makes me proud that this is an event that ticks a lot of boxes for a lot of people – it feels right at this part of our journey.
“We launched pre-Covid and had a really good year in 2019 before everything was closed down but it feels like this should be where we are.
“We’ve caught up on the years we lost and I think Hope House is going to have 20 runners as our charity partner and we will be passing their base in Morda.

“I’m really pleased, especially on the back of a sell-out Lake Vyrnwy [half-marathon] event last month so it feels like we’re making good traction for the area.”
Alan also admitted he was happy that the much-needed works in Church Street have been completed in time for the race to begin.
He added: “Organisation-wise, it’s been good – the re-surfacing in Church Street has been really good for us because that start and finish area by Cae Glas Park is brand-new.
“The timing of that has been lovely and the town is looking pretty good for us.”
Cllr Rose announced this week she would be taking part and has set up a Just Giving page as part of her mayor’s charity fundraising at https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/olly-rose?utm_term=aZGxKrYRW
She is also holding a quiz night at the Bailey Head pub, on the Bailey Head, on Thursday, October 5 at 7.30pm.
Meanwhile, Mrs Morgan has also set up a Just Giving Page at https://www.justgiving.com/page/helen-os10k/
She is hoping to raise £1,000 for Hope House.
She added: “Almost everyone in Shropshire and North Wales will know a family who have benefited from this brilliant charity – a charity that deserves all of our support.
“Please give what you can and help support a superb charity that is close to my heart.”
