THE Gobowen Pantomime Group is set to make a comeback this Christmas after an 18year hiatus.

The group will present a timeless tale, ‘Beauty and the Beast’, at The Working Mens Club this December.

It's been a while since the community of Gobowen put on a pantomime, but back when they did, it was a massive success .

A spokesperson for the group said: “Bringing together a cast of young people and local amateur-performers we want to stage a brand-new production of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ on a well-known Gobowen stage.

"After the huge success of Gobowen's bonfire night (2022) it certainly feels like there is an appetite for family activities in the village."

Lead by professional theatre maker Justin Cliffe, and supported by the Gobowen Community Group, and the Gobowen Youth Opportunity Fund, the show gives the perfect opportunity for people to socialise, develop new skills, and grow their confidence.

The spokesperson added: “A home-grown Pantomime will give audiences of families and friends the enjoy a night out at the theatre, right on their doorstep.”

Auditions were completed on September 19 and since then rehearsals are taking place at The Working Mens Club in Gobowen, every Tuesday from 7.30pm.

The opening show night will start on Wednesday, December 20, and will be on for three days, on December 21 and 22 as well.
