GOBOWEN Community Group has announced the return of the village's Firework & Bonfire night at Gobowen Playing Fields – for a second year in a row.
The event, set to start at 5pm on Sunday October 29, will feature music, BBQ, drinks and an array of activities, including Guy Fawkes contest and Hallowe'en pumpkin carving competition.
Last year was the first time in 20 years since the festivities were held in Gobowen, but organisers hope to make it an annual event again.
Craig Emery, chairman of Gobowen Community Group, said: “We were not expecting the footfall last year, and the feedback was really, really good.

“We want to make people smile and our main aim is to keep everything accessible, especially in these current times.”
Last year’s event exceeded everyone’s expectations, as the Gobowen Community Group planned for around 1000 visitors, but the number went up to over 2500 people.
Therefore, the fireworks for the 2023 night paid for itself.
“We made quite a bit of money which helped us organise the event this year”, Craig added, “We paid for the fireworks, and with whatever we are making this year we are going to pay the caterers, and all the other things that need to take care of.”
The group was also left quite shocked when trying to book the award-winning firework company Bright Sparks.
“As soon as the 2022 event was done, we wanted to book them again for this year”, the chairman continued, “It was quite shocking to find out they were already booked for November 5.”
Because of that, the event is set to take place earlier this year, but organisers will embrace this and incorporate Hallowe’en in their plans.

Craig added: “We are planning on dropping off pumpkins to Gobowen Primary School – and kids could bring them along.
“Also people can come by in their Hallowe’en costumes.”
The Royal British Legion will also be around as the group supports the Poppy appeal.
Entry for the event is free for children under 16, but adults will have to pay £5 for their ticket.
