A FLOOD alert has been issued for several rivers near Oswestry today (Wednesday, September 20) following heavy rainfall.
The Severn Confluence - where the rivers Vyrnwy and Severn meet - at Crew Green has been made the subject of a flood alert with river levels expected to rise between 2pm and 4pm this afternoon.
A spokesperson said: "We expect river levels to remain high overnight. We are closely monitoring the situation.
“Please avoid contact with flood water and avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses.”

The Environment Agency expects the peak to take place in Llanymynech with 3.3m to 3.5m this evening.
It is predicted that flooding will affect low lying land and roads adjacent to the river from the Welsh border at Llawnt to Shrawardine near Shrewsbury.
Other locations that may be affected include Llanymynech, Maesbrook and Melverley.

Meanwhile, Natural Resources Wales has issued a flood alert for the Upper Dee from Llanuwchllyn to Llangollen with flooding of low-lying land and roads to be expected.
It comes after heavy rainfall has left river levels above normal.
