ELLESMERE Food Share organisers were left ‘surprised and delighted’ and they received a donation worth more than £1,000 from an ex-resident of the town.
Paul Bowen now lives in Fuerteventura, one of the Canary Islands, where he is a member of the Mustang Sally Golf Society.
The club recently held a charity golf fundraiser at their local course, which raised more than £17,000 and the proceeds have been shared between several foodbanks in the UK.

Paul's mum, Margaret, presented the cheque to Ruth Philp and Penny Harrison at the Ellesmere Food Share, which is situated in Our Space Community Space in Trimpley Street, recently.
Penny thanked Paul for remembering his roots and said all donations, large and small, go towards the upkeep of what it now a vital service in Ellesmere.
He said: "We rely on food and cash donations to keep our shelves stocked with food for people who are struggling as a result of the financial crisis.
“It was wonderful to learn that Paul hasn't forgotten Ellesmere and continues to support the town from his new home."
