AN OSWESTRY beauty queen achieved an historic milestone as she became the first-ever British Filipino to claim the prestigious Ms Galaxy International crown in Florida recently.
April Luong’s journey to international acclaim began earlier this year when she secured the UK title at the UK Galaxy Pageants, earning the right to represent her country at the Galaxy International Pageant.
This trip was part of her well-deserved prize package, which included an unforgettable trip to Florida to compete against formidable contestants from around the world.

April said: “ I haven't been celebrating actually, I think I tend to go into shock mode and start focusing on my work.
"I believe the other day was the first time I had some down time to process it all."
The Galaxy International Pageant, spanning from August 23 to August 26, transformed Orlando into a dazzling hub of beauty and glamour.
Contestants engaged in exhilarating photoshoots, extravagant parties, and the grand finals, all while showcasing their elegance and charisma on the global stage.
April's ascent to the crown was the result of unwavering determination, fueled by her previous achievement as the first runner-up at the UK finals the year before.
Throughout her tenure as a finalist and Queen in the Galaxy pageant system, April remained committed to her community by making numerous charitable appearances, exemplifying her dedication to making a positive impact beyond the runway.
Some of the local businesses have been supporting her from the start and she has been very thankful.
She would like to express her grattitude to Prudent Financial Planning Services, Raya’s Kitchen Cafe and the Oswestry Town Museum, for their unwavering suport.
What sets April's victory apart is her astounding performance, securing the highest scores in every round, including the interview, swimwear, fashionwear and eveningwear, and the coveted photogenic award.
April added: "Now I think it's time for me to focus on the charities I have chosen and the future projects I want to do with them.
"All the work I do now is so that people in need can benefit from it even when I no longer hold the title a year from now."
One of April's major projects, which will be a personal donation from herself and her family, is to build an Artesian Well in Mandaluyong Philippines for the community to be able to access clean drinking water.
Also she is planning on donating essential items to Asociacian de Damas de Filipinas inc, a shelter for abandoned children.
Locally, April will try to raise £300 for Women's Aid, hoping to beat her previous donation, and will aim to donate feminine products along with essential food items for Oswestry Food bank.
With this remarkable feat, April embarks on an exhilarating journey as Ms Galaxy International, promising an exciting year ahead.
