THE nation’s favourite gardener will be taking part in a live event in partnership with an Oswestry book shop.
BBC Gardeners’ World presenter Monty Don will be sharing stories from his career and will talk about his genre defining new tome – The Gardening Book – at Storyhouse in Chester with Oswestry’s Booka Bookshop.
The event will be on Thursday, November 9 at 7pm (doors opening at 6.30pm) and a spokesman for Booka Bookshop said that the event with the TV star will be well worth catching, whether travelling from local or Oswestry.
They said: “Monty has been making television programmes for more than 30 years and has been lead presenter of the BBC’s Gardeners’ World since 2003.
“Since 2011 the programme has come from his own garden, Longmeadow, in Herefordshire.

“The Gardening Book is a no-nonsense, practical and accessible guide to the fundamentals of gardening.
“The book’s blurb says ‘think of your garden like a meal. ‘When you select a recipe, you’re choosing it based on inclination, experience and circumstance. Making a garden, big or small, uses exactly the same process. Monty Don is on a mission- to show everyone how joyful gareningd can be. Starting with two important questions – what do you want from your garden? And how can it best serve your needs?’
“Monty’s new book is a revolutionary new guide to the basics.
“Whether you want to grow your own veg or plant the perfect herbaceous border, gardening to create a relaxing oasis or to connect more with nature, The Gardening Book shows you what to plant, where and when to plant it, and how to plant it.
“It will arm you with the knowledge and confidence to make any garden bloom. The Gardening Book is Monty’s most practical and accessible book to date, created to answer the most popular gardening questions Monty has received over the years.
“A new standard bearer for gardening, this is the essential book for a new generation of gardeners.
“Don’t miss the opportunity to join Monty for a timely and thought-provoking celebration of gardening, challenging the norms, sharing practical advice, and answering your gardening conundrums.”
