A NINE-MONTHS pregnant Oswestry woman and her partner were left stunned after teenagers smashed their car’s windscreen by throwing eggs from Middleton Bridge.
On Saturday, August 19, between 9.45pm and 10.15pm Mais Watkin and her partner were driving down the A5 towards the bridge when eggs began to rain down on their car.
Mais said her partner was driving and noticed some people on the bridge just before they drove under it.
She said: “He didn’t think anything of it, but as we went under the bridge, we three had eggs hit the car all at once.

“You can imagine we couldn’t see anything as some hit the windscreen and he had to slam on and swerve to the side to get off the road as we didn’t know if there was anyone behind us.
“It’s like an old school prank, because when you put the wipers on it made it worse.
“Luckily, we had some water bottles that we used to get rid of what we could and went to see if we could have a chat with them but they left.”
Besides the windscreen being smashed, the car's paint was chipped, creating even more inconvenience for the couple, as they were preparing to sell the vehicle.
Mais added: “It’s just unfortunate really, as my partner was getting ready to sell the car.
“We don’t mind about that but the whole situation could’ve gone very differently.
“If it would’ve been an elderly person or someone that for a second didn’t pay attention it could have been way worse.”
The soon-to-be mum said she is grateful her partner was driving as it ‘took her a minute to realise what happened.’
“I said to him ‘Thank God you were driving because I don’t know how I would’ve reacted’,” she added.
“Like I said if it went differently, with all the shock and surprise, it could’ve ended up really badly.”
The couple has since contacted the police to report the incident.

Mais continued: “So many ‘what ifs’ that could have been so much worse.
“Even though we ended up with a big bill, we feel lucky that we were okay.
“I know kids will be kids and will do silly things, but they are putting people’s lives at risk."
