AN ESTATE in Ellesmere that has lain empty for a number of years will have new owners by the end of next month, at a cost of more than £16 million.
The Kenwick Estate is a mix of farms and residential land in between Cockshutt, to the south of Ellesmere, and the village of Kenwick, that extends to nearly 1,500 acres.
It will be sold on Friday, September 29.
Offers have been received for the estate, which could be bought by one bidder for all 1,491 acres, or split up to multiple bidders with five lots available.
Lot one is Kenwick Farm extending to 827 acres, with Lot 1a Lawn Cottages, a three-bedroom semi-detached cottage opposite.
Lot two is Crosemere Farm and lot three is 209 acres at Springs Farm which is also the focus of lot five for its farmhouse.
Lot four is Colemere Woods Farm which offers a farmhouse in need of refurbishment, with traditional buildings with modern farm buildings and 62 acres of land.
“The Kenwick Estate is situated in picturesque and rural Shropshire with far-reaching views towards the Welsh Hills,” said London-based agents Strutt & Parker.
“This substantial farming estate extends to 1,491 acres and includes two principal farm holdings, each with an attractive farmhouse and substantial range of farm buildings.
“The surrounding farmland is gently undulating with 1,070 acres of commercial arable land, 253 acres of pasture and 136 acres of woodland.
“The varied topography interspersed with woodland and water offers sporting potential.
“There are two further farm holdings each with detached brick farmhouses in need of renovation, extensive traditional farm buildings with development potential (subject to planning).
“The estate has been let for a number of years and is now offered for sale with vacant possession available on the majority by September 29, 2023 and the balance by March 24, 2024.”
