A SIX-year-old boy from Gobowen has donated 16 inches of his hair to the Little Princess Trust as well as raising over £700.
Elliot Cherrington was extremely fond of his long hair, and refused to cut it, no matter how many times his parents asked him if he wanted to.
Gemma, Elliot’s mum, explained that they asked him numerous times whenever they went to the barbers with his older brother.

She said: “He always said 'No', but then I saw a story on Facebook about the Little Princess Trust and I told him about it.
“And we asked him again if he would be willing to do it to help poorly children.
“He agreed to it and he has been really pleased with the outcome.”
The Little Princess Trust supplies real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or to other conditions.
The family then got in contact with the Trust and set up a GoFundMe page which has far exceeded everyone’s expectations, raising £542 from donations and an additional £121 from Gift Aid.
The big chop took place at the Nicholas Llewelyn Barbers in Oswestry, who cut Elliot’s hair for free.

Another boost for his cause came from Gobowen Primary School that he currently attends.
Gemma added: “They also decided to help by hosting a non-uniform day and raised money to send to our GoFundMe page, which was just amazing.”
The school raised a further £130, which brought the total to £793.
“After the haircut, Elliot really wanted to raise enough money to actually transform his hair into a wig”, Gemma said, “So when he saw he succeeded he was very pleased.”
Since then the little boy has received an acknowledgement certificate for his donation, and his fundraiser page is still open for others to donate.
“Sadly we are not going to be kept in the loop with where the process is at in terms of making the wig,” his mum added, “But we were advised to keep the page open and he will receive another certificate.”
Gemma said that Elliot likes his new hair, and although he was very adamant about cutting it at first, he is now thinking of maybe doing it again.
“We don’t know if it’s going to happen but he said ‘Yes’ when we asked so we will see.”
