AN OSWESTRY-born restaurateur and Channel Four contestant has written a book showing off his long and illustrious career and with a foreword by two TV stars.
David Woodward will be launching his book ‘Confessions of a Waiter’ at Oswestry Cricket Club on Wednesday, September 6 from 6pm with drinks and nibbles available, as well as a question and answer session with MC James Bond.
It is one of three launches of the book – London and Bath also – but David wanted to use his hometown as a way of celebrating his career.
And he is hoping that Oswestrians far and wide will decide upon the Morda Road site to help him celebrate the book.
He said: “The Bath and London events are filling up and lots of interest and we’d like to do the same here in Oswestry.

“The book is about my career in hospitality and it’s full of amusing anecdotes about my time there that hopefully can relate to.
“The bit of my personal life and the ups and downs of catering – it’s my look into the lives of the rich and famous.
“It will also cover when I was on Channel Four’s ‘Four in a bed’.
“I was a competitor on the show and the great thing for me is that it gets repeated around four times a year, which is great.
“Personally, I did well out of the way it was edited and was pleased with it but I know of one contestant whose business received a backlash because of it.”
The book contains a foreword from old friends and colleagues Fred Sirieix, from First Dates, and Channel 5 star Jane McDonald.
He said: “The book has a foreword written by Fred and also by Jane – I worked with Fred at the Bluebird Restaurant on the Kings Road, Chelsea, when it opened in 1997.
“Jane ate at my restaurant at Keats Cottage on the Isle of Wight – named after the poet when he stayed there.
“Over the years I’ve served so many famous people including David Beckham and even Hollywood stars like Nicholas Cage.
“The book has anecdotes about them that are really worth listening to, but some might have the names kept out for privacy.”
Anyone who wants to book a spot for the book launch can do so by emailing him at david.h.woodward@hotmail.com or visiting www.davidwoodward.uk
It is available from Amazon immediately to buy.
