THE family of a man who came together to finish his children’s book in his memory say they are delighted it has been published.
‘Peace of Wild’ has been written under the pen name Pearl White-Wolf after Jeanne Hughes and Colin Ralph, siblings to Graham Ralph, plus Jeanne’s daughter Joanne, completed the book after Graham unexpectedly died.
Jeanne explained that the book is part of an expected trilogy and that she and her co-authors picked up the baton from Graham to help explain the dangers facing the natural world in the book, which was published on Friday.
She said: “In a nutshell, we wanted to tell children this way about the dangers animals face.

“It is intended to be the first in a series, so this one is the background story of the animals coming together, who are wanting to inform and interest children, and make them want to find out more for themselves.
“It’s allowing children to learn about animals in a way that makes sense to them.
“It was done in an organic way – we had zoom meetings, usually weekly if we could manage, and we each write separately.
“We each had our own inspiration – I wrote about giraffes but I had to check that no one else did.
“We had discussions and opted for different animal characters and that’s how it came about.”
Jeanne, who lives with her daughter in Dudleston Heath, near Ellesmere, added that the inspiration to write came from wanting to honour her brother’s memory but admitted the experience was an enjoyable one.

She said: “It’s my inspiration to write this that we took over something that was beautiful – none of us have a background in writing.
“Mine is in finance, Graham was an electrical engineer, Colin is management and Jo works in local government.
“None of us had creative backgrounds but we all found that we took great pleasure in writing in our chapters.
“If you feel the inspiration, give it a go – it’s a lovely feeling.
“The inspiration was to honour our brother’s memory and his wife has been supportive in giving us permission to continue this.”
A blurb for the book, which is available at Amazon, Waterstones, Barnes and Noble, among others, says: “Can animals communicate and can their voices be heard to make their plight known?
“Are there still magical and mystical being hidden from us?
“Meet the charming animal characters representing endangered species and read their interesting and exciting and informative adventures and story.
“The wonder of the wild all await you in this book.”
