WORK on the new McDonald’s in Oswestry is in full swing with the iconic 'golden arches' arches going up as the opening day is fast approaching.
The fast-food giant has said its new eatery, on the former Smithfield Livestock Market site off Shrewsbury Road, will open in just a few weeks, and pictures show the building is coming on fast.
What was just steel girders last Monday now has a facade and signage - including the iconic golden 'M' - is now on full view.
A spokesperson from McDonald’s said: “We are excited to be bringing a new restaurant to Oswestry which is due to open in late Summer.

“The restaurant will bring significant investment to the local area with around 120 new full and part-time jobs.”
Plans for the new restaurant were approved by Shropshire Council's planners in January 2021, with the company saying they would bring an employment boost to Oswestry.
Job adverts have already been circulating for the past month, from crew member positions to customer service and maintenance, there is an array of employment opportunities at the new eatery.

The blueprints show that fast-food business will include a 100-seat restaurant and a drive-thru, as well as a 45-space car park, with bicycle stands and a children's play area.
At present the nearest branch is at Chirk.
It's been a long wait for people in Oswestry, after McDonald's first revealed plans to come to the town as part of the original Smithfield redevelopment plan which was first put forward more than a decade ago.
