An uninsured driver has been fined and handed eight penalty points after being caught carrying too many passengers in a Ford Fiesta that had no MOT.
Ivan Ivanov, aged 36, of Castle Street, Oswestry, was caught by police driving along the A483 in Welshpool on December 2 last year carrying five passengers when the Ford Fiesta could only seat and secure four people.
The 36-year-old was fined £660 for driving with no insurance covering the car after he was found guilty by Llanelli Magistrates' Court. He was also ordered to pay a £264 victim surcharge and £90 in court costs. The total amount Ivanov owes to the court is £1,014.
His licence was also endorsed with eight penalty points.
Magistrates decided not to impose separate penalties for driving the Ford Fiesta without a valid test certificate and using the car with a number of passengers that it is "likely to cause danger".
