DESPITE the ‘biblical’ rains this weekend, Oswestry’s Food and Drink Festival was considered another huge success for the town.
With town mayor Councillor Olly Rose performing the ribbon-cutting duties on the corner of Cross Street and Bailey Street, thousands came to sample the best of Shropshire produce.
Added to events in Cae Glas Park, the turnout for the Food and Drink Festival – despite the yellow Met Office wearing in place for thunderstorms which arrived on Saturday – was praised by the town council.
A spokesman said: “Thanks to everyone who attended Oswestry Food and Drink Festival, plus the TNS and Reggae events in Cae Glas Park at the weekend.
“It was great to welcome so many visitors to our town.
“We hope you enjoyed your time here.
“The fun never stops in Oswestry and free summer events are coming thick and fast.
Next weekend we have Attfield Theatre's popular ‘Panto in the Park’ with their performance of ‘Puss in Boots’. Join Tom, Puss and their friends as they embark on a gripping and comical adventure in the land of Shoeshine.
