A NEW pantomime group in Oswestry is hosting a free fun family day fundraiser to spread the joy of the theatre to those who can’t attend.
Borderland Theatre is a new community group formed by a group of friends who want to bring pantomime to Oswestry in an accessible and affordable way.
Chairman Danielle Edwards explained that the event, which aims to raise funds to make this possible, is set to take place on Saturday, July 22, in Cae Glas Park.

She said: “This is one of the many fundraisers I’ve done voluntarily for the past few years, and we think that there is a gap in the market for theatre and arts.
“The group was formed in February by a group of friends, who have all been involved in theatre before.
“Our youngest member is 11 and our oldest is 82, so there is really a spot for everyone.”
The event will bring local vendors, rides, children’s activities, performers, and other community groups who will have stalls in the park.
Danielle added: “We want to bring Christmas family pantomime to Oswestry at an affordable price that the whole family can attend, as theatre can be quite expensive.”
The group will also have a performance at Christmas, on December 2 and December 3.
“The town has lots of fun things at Christmas and we thought the pantomime would fit right in”, she continued.
The chairman said that the group is also working on a programme that would benefit people who are not able to get to a theatre.
“We aim to to provide community with a local, affordable pantomime, as well as providing an outreach program for people that cannot go to the theatre”, she said.
