OSWESTRY residents are in for a treat as McDonald's gears up to launch their highly anticipated new restaurant earlier than originally planned.
The fast-food giant has said its new eatery on the former Smithfield livestock market site off Shrewsbury Road will open in the summer - having previously said it was anticipating an autumn opening.
Work has begun on the new site, with initial groundworks appearing.

A spokesperson from McDonald’s said: “We are really excited to be opening a brand-new McDonald’s restaurant in Oswestry in the summer.
“The new restaurant will bring significant investment to the local area as well as creating at least 120 full and part time jobs.”
The plans for the fast-food eatery include a 100-seat restaurant and a drive-through, as well as a 45-space car park, with bicycle stands and a children's play area.
At present the nearest branch is at Chirk.
