A MAN was airlifted to hospital after a collision with a van in Oswestry town centre on Friday afternoon.
The man was taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital by Midlands Air Ambulance after a UPS delivery van collided with him, as well as the fountain in The Cross.
West Mercia Police confirmed that it was called to the incident at around 1.30pm.

A spokesman said: “Officers were called to collision where a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at The Cross in Oswestry.
“West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) and Shropshire Fire Services are in attendance.
“The extent of the injuries is not yet known
“The injured person was taken by air ambulance to Royal Stoke University Hospital.”
A WMAS spokesman confirmed they had attended the scene.
A spokesman said: “We were called to reports of a collision between a van and pedestrian at the junction of Church Street and Cross Street at 1.25pm.
“We had one ambulance, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford in attendance to assess three patients.”
A Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “At 1.29pm on Friday, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting that a Road Traffic Collision had taken place in Oswestry.
"Three fire appliances including the Rescue Tender were mobilised from Ellesmere, Oswestry and Wellington.
"An Operations officer was in attendance.

"Also at the scene of the incident were: the Land Ambulance Service and the police."
Eye-witnesses were taken by surprise by the incident, with business close to it saying they heard loud bangs.
They added that the van had also collided with, and caused damage to, a fountain in The Cross.
Others said that they had seen a man trapped by the van after it had collided with him while the road remained closed.
