A PLAQUE commemorating the coronation of King Charles III will be unveiled at Oswestry’s Guildhall the day after the event.
At midday on Sunday, May 7, Oswestry’s mayor Councillor Jay Moore will officially unveil the plaque at the building on the Bailey head, which has been commissioned by Lor Lieutenant Anna Turner.
Mrs Turner has commissioned the plaques for all parts of the county of Shropshire to commemorate the historic event by having one displayed in each town.
Cllr Moore said he is looking forward to being asked to unveil the plaque, which will end his mayoral year.
He said: “The civic year began with the celebrations of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
“I represented our town during Operation London Bridge following the passing of her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and this will be my final duty as mayor.
“It has been an honour to represent Oswestry and carry out my duties as mayor during this historic time.”
