IT'S going to be a busy spring in Oswestry with an array of free events set to hit the town.

From a live screening of the King's Coronation to a town centre circus, and even a beach, there will be something for everyone to take advantage of over the coming months.

Oswestry Town Council, Oswestry Business Improvement District (BID) and Visit Oswestry are behind the events which will be available to enjoy at little or no cost to help with the Cost of Living Crisis.

Things kick off with the annual Family Fun Day, on Good Friday, April 7.

This event, organised by Oswestry Town Council and Oswestry Town Markets, will be located on the Bailey Head in the heart of Oswestry’s market square, and visitors can enjoy an Easter hunt, storytelling, mascots, children’s face-painting, inflatable slide, donkeys and children's rides.

The bustling street and indoor markets will be open too with plenty of delicious treats, gifts and crafts.

There will be a small charge for the children’s rides.

Next up will be the Street Circus Bus which is set to take place on Easter Saturday, April 8, and has been organised by Oswestry BID.

The highly popular show will include a line-up of street performances on the Bailey Head.

Locals and visitors might also catch the cheeky performers on walkabout through the town, causing mischief and mayhem wherever they go.

The circus will be on from 11am to 4pm.

You can discover Oswestry’s historic, industrial and cultural heritage with a Guided Tour from the ‘Visit Oswestry’ team – the first of the spring/summer season.

Hear local stories, learn about Oswestry heroes, and appreciate the beautiful architecture of buildings and sculptures.

The tour will start from the Tourist Information Centre on Castle View on Sunday, April 8 at 11am and then every Saturday until the autumn. Donations welcome.

OTHER NEWS:

Then to mark the King's Coronation a live screening will take place in Oswestry's Cae Glas Park, on Saturday May 6.

There will be children’s rides, magicians, circus performers, face-painting, alpacas, stalls, street food, plus live music from Porth-y-waen brass band.

Donations at the event can be made to local children’s hospice, Hope House.

Lastly, grab a deckchair and your bucket and spade, and enjoy some beach fun away from the sea, between Saturday, May 27 and Monday, May 29.

Festival Square will be turned into a huge sandpit, and it will be perfect for the little ones and the young at heart to enjoy some messy fun without the clear-up.

The beach is an event organised by Oswestry BID.
