A MAN who was rescued from a ditch by Shropshire firefighters in West Felton, near Oswestry, on Monday did require hospital treatment for serious injuries.
A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed that the man, who had to be taken out of the six-foot ditch at around 2pm, was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
However, they added that there injuries were serious enough for the air ambulance to be called, as well as two land ambulances and a paramedic and a specialist response team.
“We were called to a patient that had fallen in Tedsmore, West Felton at 1.56pm,” said the spokesman.
“Two ambulances, a paramedic officer, the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) and the Midland Air Ambulance from Tatenhill attended the scene.
“Upon arrival, we found a man.

“He was assessed and had sustained serious injuries that were not life-threatening.
“He received treatment from ambulance staff at the scene and was taken to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for further treatment.”
One Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service crew of firefighters from Baschurch was sent to the scene and helped remove the man from the ditch.
