A WOMAN from Oswestry is aiming to cycle 300 miles this May to raise money for a new local cat rescue.
Kerry Owen is an avid cyclist who has completed many challenges before for Hector's Greyhound Rescue.
This time she wants to cycle for Oswestry Cat Rescue, a new non-profit organisation which opened in December 2022.
She believes that cats are being overlooked, and not being treated equal to dogs.
Kerry said: "I have cats as well, and I just lost one due to ill-health, Belle, and it's just one more reason for me to do this.
"People look at cats like they are second class to dogs, they hit them and leave them, but they are somebody's pet.

"It makes me mad really, but these girls at the Oswestry Cat Rescue, are doing a great job."
Kerry continued explaining that stray cats come around all the time near her home.
"I always see them, I try to feed them and take care of them" she said "Then I call up the rescue team and they come and get them."
The woman is determined to take on the 300 miles in May to raise money for rescue centre.
Kerry said: "I work three days and then I am off three days so I will do my best in my time off to complete the challenge.
"I am aiming to cycle 30 to 40 miles a day."
The cyclist has also opened a Crowdfunding page for donations, and is aiming to raise £500 for Oswestry Cat Rescue.
At the moment the pot stands at £350, and Kerry is shocked.

She added: "The money is mainly coming from people I don't even know.
"My post has been shared on Facebook, and I am happy that I am reaching people who want to help."
Kerry is also urging anyone who wants to join her in the days she will cycle to keep an eye out for her posts and announcements.
