A BASCHURCH woman’s inquest will only take place after a meeting between medical professionals and her family over the exact cause of death.
Megan Jane Thickens, 88, died at Princess Royal Hospital, in Telford, on July 14 last year, with complications after surgery given as a cause of death.
However, medical experts asked to consider her death gave a different cause, leading to an adjournment until January this year while Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital Trust (SaTH) arranged a meeting between themselves and family.
But at the latest hearing, held at Shirehall in Shrewsbury on Tuesday, February 28, Shropshire Coroner John Ellery told Mrs Thickens’s family that he cannot hold an inquest until a meeting has taken place.

The court heard from SaTH that there had been a mis-communication between various doctors and administrative staff over who should arrange it, and that certain medical experts were now not available.
However, a meeting will be scheduled in the coming weeks ahead of as yet unconfirmed inquest date for Mr Ellery.
