A TRAIN passenger has ended up with a hefty bill after he failed to explain what had happened to his ticket.
Lee Alexander Fox had travelled from Chirk Railway Station to Manchester Victoria on June 15, last year - a journey which cost £56.20.
But when he arrived in Manchester he was unable to produce his ticket.
Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court was told last month how the 39-year-old had told railway station staff that he had lost his ticket and wallet on the train.

His details were taken and he was told the facts would be reported and an incident letter was sent to him requesting an explaination.
But the court was told that as no response had been received a fixed penalty notice had been sent to him and this remained unpaid.
The case against Fox, of Rigby Street in Salford, was proved via the single justice procedure and magistrates fined him £220.
They also ordered him to pay £56.20 in compensation for the rail fare, as well as £150 court costs and a £44 victim surcharge.
This made a total of £470.20.
