POLICE have confirmed a fatality on the railway line between Gobowen and Shrewsbury on Wednesday (February 8).
National Rail warned passengers of delays to trains running between the two stations yesterday afternoon with normal service due to resume shortly after 5pm after an 'incident' on the line.
This morning, British Transport Police have confirmed a man had died.
A spokesperson said: "Officers were called to Shrewsbury station at 3.05pm yesterday (Wednesday, February 8) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
"Paramedics also attended, and sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Officers are currently working to identify the deceased and establish the full circumstances behind their death."
A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service added: "We were called to a medical incident near Shrewsbury Train Station at 3.08pm yesterday.
"Two ambulances and a paramedic officer were sent to the scene where, on arrival, they discovered one male patient.
"Sadly, it quickly became clear that nothing could be done to save him, and he was declared dead at the scene."
