A PRIMARY school in a village near Oswestry has celebrated National Storytelling Week with a visit from an award-winning narrator.

Weston Rhyn Primary School welcomed Jake Evans where he explained the importance of storytelling as a portal to help unleash children's imagination.

The pupils were enchanted by the way Jake told the tales, and said he was really funny.

Year five pupil, Lewis said: "I really enjoyed listening to the storyteller.

"He was really funny, especially his story about the wibbly, wobbly finger."

All the pupils relished getting involved with the stories and were inspired to create their own stories.

Vanessa Hackett, English lead, who organised the event added: "I’ve never seen the children so engrossed in a story.
