THE WETHERSPOON in Oswestry evacuated its costumers on Saturday, January 28, due to a poppadum container catching fire in the kitchen.
The Wilfred Owen, in Willow Street, had to clear the premises of customers for an hour, after a kitchen fire broke out.
A spokesperson from Wetherspoon said:" The Wilfred Owen, Oswestry was evacuated for approximately one hour on Saturday due to a plastic poppadum container momentarily catching fire in the kitchen.
"This was a minor incident which did not require the attendance of the fire brigade as the burnt poppadum container was immediately extinguished by the staff using a fire blanket."
The pub closed for an hour to enable the staff to clean and air the kitchen.
