ELLESMERE Bowling Club, one of community's best kept secret, is aiming to raise £10,000 to replace the floodlight lamps on both greens.
The Bowling Club, located on Church Hill, runs as a non profit community club, and it has a membership for ages of 14 to 90.
Gerard Brooke-Bennett, member and the new marketing and fundraiser of the club, is fascinated with Ellesmere and the sense of community that the town and the bowling group bring.
He said: "The Bowling Club offers you the opportunity to meet people, united in a goal to keep fit and healthy no matter what age or level of fitness.
"An all-inclusive club supported by the community and offers an outdoor sport for all."
The club reopens from the winter break on March 20 and from then on each Monday evening has free open nights where visitors are more than welcome to come up from 7.00pm .
With two Shropshire approved coaches within the club, coaching is available.
Teas/coffee always available and a licensed bar to boot.
Gerard added: "No equipment? No problem as the club keeps spare woods and mats for visitors.
"All we request is that flat shoes are worn on the green, no heels please."
"Even if you are not interested in bowling, come and enjoy the views, history of this unique friendly club set in the middle of a conservation area", he continued.
Some of the other events planned at the club are: Soap box Derby from the club house, Tractor Rally, Garden party/afternoon tea on the top green, Casino night, Bingo nights, Comedy club, Golf day and a Santa run/dash
The club is also trying to be active in raising money and the next fund raising event is a quiz night on Saturday February 4.
