THE company that owns a popular Ellesmere pub says it is in the process of trying to find new licensees to take over following its closure over Christmas.
Admiral Taverns, based in Chester, confirmed the pub had closed and would remain shut while new tenants for the Scotland Street-based business are found.
The pub had closed before the Christmas period, while a 'To Let' sign was placed on its exterior.
A spokesman from Admiral Taverns added that if someone who is able to take on the pub wants and is able to do then they should contact them.
They said: "At Admiral we take great pride in running sustainable pubs in partnership with our licensees across the UK.
"We have supported our licensees at the Black Lion in every way possible, however unfortunately, there are inevitably instances where we do have to part company with our licensees.
“The pub will now be closed until we find new licensees to ensure the Black Lion has a long-term successful future.
