AN OSWESTRY man discovered by neighbours meant to take his own life, a coroner has ruled.
Ian Wilson, 55 and of Cherry Tree Drive, Oswestry, was found by his neighbours on Monday, September 5 after having been last seen a few days earlier.
Shropshire coroner John Ellery, at the inquest into Mr Wilson’s death at Shirehall, in Shrewsbury, on Thursday, January 5, that a note had been left.
He said that neighbours found him at his home after they had not seen him for up to three days, and as the property was left unlocked, they decided to check on him.
The emergency services were called to the scene but Mr Wilson was pronounced dead, with Mr Ellery stating the time of death was between Friday, September 2 and Monday, September 5.
Mr Ellery told the court that toxicology reports showed there was nothing of significance in his system at the time of his death.
He also confirmed with family members present at court that Mr Wilson had previously indicated a desire to take his own life.
He said: “I do conclude that it was deliberate.”
Mr Ellery ruled that the death was by suicide.
