A WOMAN from Chirk has been thanked after raising £10,000 for a local hospice by selling her chutneys and jams.
Tricia Kendrick and her husband, Les, grow fruit and vegetables that then they turn into delicious goodies.
The former district nurse and midwife at Chirk Hospital has helped many charities throughout the years, and in 2022 she gave £300 to Nightingale Hospice and £300 to Hope House - with the latter recently presenting her with a thank you card for all her support.
The 84-year-old said: "We started off when we wanted to raise money for a swimming pool for Chirk, and we succeeded.
"We collected an awful lot of money from putting stalls up at Christmas fairs, pantomime shows, carnivals and anywhere else we could."
After finishing raising all the funds needed for the swimming pool, people started coming to Tricia asking her for more jam and chutney.
"I then started doing it again after," she said "and I never took any of the money, it all went to charity."
Tricia, of Castle Crescent, also explained that years ago when the hospital couldn't get much equipment they decided to raise money for it.

Now having raised so much money over the years, Tricia said she is very happy that she continued her work.
She said: "I heard that I got praised on Facebook for my work.
"I am not sure how all those computers work, but I am happy I got to help, and I am grateful for all the amazing comments."
Tricia's specialities are strawberry, blackcurrant and raspberry jams, alongside beetroot and bean chutneys.
In the past few years however she has been thinking about 'retiring' from her hobby.
"Every year I say 'this year will be the last', and then I look at all the charities I have helped and I keep putting it off," she said.
"I don't know if I am ever going to stop helping them!"
For all the incredible work she has been doing Hope House Children's Hospice wrote a card to Tricia to congratulate her, calling her support "outstanding".
