CHIRK AAA have completed the signing of midfielder Max McLaughlin in their bid to stave away the spectre of relegation from JD Cymru North.
The Colliers have swooped to bring the 26 year old to Holyhead Road from Ardal North East League side Llanfair United.
McLaughlin has past experience at Churchstoke and Kerry before joining United.
However he has now been tempted north with the chance to represent the famous Colliers in their efforts to cement their second tier status.
It has been a forgettable Christmas for the club with a 6-1 hammering at home to Llandudno followed by a New Year stalemate against bottom of the table Holyhead Hotspur despite the Anglesey side ending the match with eight players.

Departing Holyhead Road is forward Jack Orbell who joined in the summer from Llanfair United having also represented Carno in the Ardal North East League before their relegation to the MMP Central Wales League North.
The 23-year-old has departed to join JD Cymru North rivals Llanidloes Town who are also striving to pull away from basement danger following an indifferent run of form during the festive period.
Jack Orbell has departed Chirk AAA.
Meanwhile Chirk are back in action on Saturday when Ruthin Town make the trip to Holyhead Road.
Ruthin will make the trip as favourites with Chirk without a league win since September with only a league cup win over Conwy Borough in the meantime.
Coach Gary Jones insisted the weekend clash represented the perfect opportunity to kickstart their campaign.
He said: “It is a big match for us, an opportunity to use the new year to kick start our season.
“We’ve got a couple signings coming through the door and that should lift the squad in a positive way.”
Jones was delighted to see McLaughlin arrive at Holyhead Road.
“Max is a player we wanted since the summer so we’re happy to get this over the line,” said Jones.
Meanwhile Llanrhaeadr’s Central Wales Cup dreams were dashed with 4-2 defeat at home to Ardal North East League rivals Builth Wells on Monday.
The Bulls raced ahead with two goals from Tommy Rowlands and a Lyndon Jones strike.
A frantic finale saw Barry Morris reduce the arrears before Ollie Woods added a fourth for the visitors with Joe Evans missing a penalty before William Roberts-Morris added a late consolation.
