A BUSINESS PARK near an Oswestry supermarket has moved a step closer after Shropshire Council dismissed a number of planning conditions.
The conditions, for drainage and clearance of the site on the old Smithfield Market, in Shrewsbury Road, were approved in December 2022 for the development which has had planning permission since 2020.
Planners have approved a ground investigation report which "details that no potential risks have been identified that require further assessment or remediation".
The park is expected to be made up of a variety of different businesses, such as a builders' merchant, a car showroom, a drive-through coffee shop for Costa, a drive-through fast food restaurant for McDonald's and other business units on the site.
It is hoped up to 220 jobs could be created and will be next to the Morrisons' store, with bosses previously planning a £45 million shopping and leisure complex incorporating cinema chain Cineworld, but it collapsed when they pulled out.
Morrisons, which owns the whole site, received planning permission after Shropshire Council planning officers decided Oswestry town centre would not be impacted upon by the new development,
