FIREFIGHTERS in Oswestry are set to welcome vulnerable people to the town's station next week to give a warm space.
Oswestry Fire Station, in Mount Road, will be opened to members of the public who are considered vulnerable – such as homeless, lonely or elderly people – from 12pm until 2pm on Friday, December 23.
A spokesman for firefighters at the station said that donations are welcome for the event which they hope will be a boost to the community.
They said: "On Friday, December 23 between 12pm and 2pm the fire station will be open and providing a warm space, free soup, bread roll, mince pies and hot drinks for any of the homeless, elderly, lonely or the vulnerable in Oswestry.
"We aim to provide a sense of belonging to all of the above in a safe and warm environment that welcomes everyone.
"Please come along and see us
"We are receiving a high volume of private messages regarding donations towards this event.
"If you would like to donate either financially or with food please either put in an envelope and post through the station letterbox or leave food donations in a bag by the front door.
