AN OSWESTRY landlord whose pub is adorned by poppies to commemorate Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday says he is delighted with the response it has received.
Mick Burton, in his second stint as landlord at The Fox, in Church Street, said he was delighted that people had shown an interest in his decorations.
Two giant poppies have been placed on the front of the pub with more on the side, while smaller ones surround it.
And he insisted that it was all done to support the 'proud' military history that Oswestry has.
"The feedback has been absolutely fantastic," he said.
"If you look at Facebook and peoples' pages, it's been brilliant.
"We want to do this, we want to support Oswestry and all the lads and lasses – all the service personnel.
"The town has a very proud military history and that shouldn't be forgotten about.
"We were rammed on Remembrance Sunday, both bars were full from top to bottom and everybody had a great time.
"It was brilliant – all of them commented on how good our poppy display was and we are aiming for it to be an annual thing again."
The Fox traces its origins back to the 15th century – for more, head to its Facebook page by searching The Fox, Oswestry.
